February 2006 News

Quick update - This weekend's quests will be an Aerlinthe Recall trip at 2 PM ET and a Bobo trip at 4 PM ET. More specifics are availalbe on the boards.
I've added and revised more quests, including the new Essence quest. I've also cleaned up the title listing a bit. It seems pretty clear to me now that Turbine's count is somewhat inaccurate - the total number of titles that any character could possibly earn, even by radically altering their skills, is substantially less than the 157 that are available. For instance, you can't earn both the Hero of Silyun and Hero of Sanamar titles, nor can you be both an Adventurer and a Wayfarer. It is also unfortunate that so many of the titles available can only be earned once. I've done many of these quests, so I'll never be able to earn titles like Timberman or Hero of Silyun again. Pity.

I had intended on playing a good bit this Presidents' Day, but since the servers are down, I'll update the site instead!
The PoA site has finally migrated to my host's new server cluster. Unfortunately, a byproduct of the change is that the Searchable Quest Database is down. Although I will do some work on it this afternoon, I doubt I will be able to get it up and running any time soon. However, I've continued to work on the existing quest listing. You'll just have to search yourselves for the time being...
I've also added a Title listing. Since you can now store as many titles as you like, I figured it might be convenient to have a comprehensive list somewhere to check. Turbine claims there are 157 total titles still available in the game, but I've only managed to find and list about 135. I'll keep adding titles as I find them.
Congratulations to Silver Death and Himura for earning their Caul Recall spells and to Elyria for getting the kill on the Olthoi Queen this weekend. We'll be doing a Bobo trip this Saturday (2/25) for Elyria - check the boards for specifics later in the week.

This month's patch, "A Change in Tactics," is up! All of Turbine's articles are up on the forums, if you haven't had a chance to check them out. Aside from a good number of involved quests, Turbine has added a title management system, so you can store as many titles as you want and then pick which you want to display to the world!
As Elyria is about to hit 80 and Silver Death has passed 90, I am looking to schedule three big-name quests soon - Olthoi Queen, Bobo, and Caul Recall. Bobo and Caul Recall don't require a whole lot of advanced planning and can be done with a smaller contingent, but the Olthoi Queen is not a quest we can do on a whim. Watch the boards for definite dates for all 3 quests.
I've continued work on the Quest Section, in part because ACMaps has added many maps of older quests. I've also added this month's new quests to the list (the ones that have been found so far, at least). Two of them - Shadowfire and Essence Invasion - are very difficult and require a strong contingent of high level characters!

Continued updates to the Quest Section. I haven't added guides for this month's quests yet, but several older quests are now up.
Although February's Patch day hasn't been confirmed yet, one major new feature has been announced - a title management system. Instead of having to choose which single title you want to display, you will be able to store every title you earn after the February patch and select which you want to display. It's little more than a gimmick now, but there is talk of having your title give your character unique bonuses down the road. Several preview images are out on Maggie's site, Warcry (Here and Here), and the Vault (Here and Here), and AC Mystics (Here and Here). Looks like the next patch will have a lot of new content in store for us!
This weekend's Burun Kings (1-5) went off without a hitch - thanks to everyone who attended. Next weekend, I will likely be doing a Noble Weapons quest followed by King 6, Browerk. I'll also be looking to take Elyria on the Queen Quest soon as well. Check the boards for more details.
