June 2006 News
June 15, 2006,
It's Patch Day! Looks like Grael is loose, so be wary. The biggest news is that for the first time in... well, MMO gaming, the Devs are allowing the servers to diverge from each other! It all depends on us - will the Whispering Blade and its allies stave off King Varicci and his dark forcers or will the Rossu Morta prevail over the light? It's all up to us. There will be many PK-only events this month (not PKL - full red) that decide the fate of the server. All the patch day info is up on this thread, including specifics on the Live PK Events.
In anticipation of the big battles, I'll be attempting to organize another PKL fight night. We do have some capable PKers (although I don't think anyone stays pink long), but we can always practice. I'd like to try to get this Fight Night in Tuesday the 20th and I'd like to invite some outsiders, specifically Whispering Blade sympathizers if possible. If you have friends who favor the Whispering Blade, let them know!
The Quest Section isn't updated yet, as most of the fan sites don't have any info up yet. I'll update that as soon as possible.

June's Patch, From The Darkest Depths, has been announced! Servers will be down June 13th from roughly 8AM - 6 PM ET as usual for the patch. The patch's teaser images are up - check out the thread on the forums to see them. It looks like the Shadows are up to something...
The Servers will also be down for an extended period tomorrow, June 8th, from 4 AM to 6 PM ET for a pretty major overhaul. What's going to happen? Solclaim and all the other white servers will be receiving a hardware upgrade, just like Darktide did a couple months ago. The maintenance on the 8th will be a precursor to the actual upgrade, which will happen during the patch day downtime the on the 13th. Check out the announcement on Turbine's site for more details. Hopefully this upgrade will cut down on some of the lag and ping spikes that have plagued the server over the last few months.
This weekend, I'll be running two Harbinger quests. Tentatively, I'm going to do the new, moderate difficulty trip Saturday and the normal difficulty trip Sunday. The spirit might move me to do the Hard version Saturday and the Moderate version Sunday though. I haven't done either, but the dungeons for the quest haven't changed, so it shouldn't be much of a change. Check out the quest thread for details. Don't forget your Harby item!
It looks like we have enough interest to justify doing an Overtink session. The trouble will be finding a date when we can do it. Ideally, this would happen the last weekend in June, but I don't think I'll be around, unfortunately. Sunday, the 2nd of July looks like it'll be our best bet, but that will depend on whether people are in town. We're still set up to do Weapon and Armor overtinks (I have a rare for each on Kickem) and Himura can do the MI overtink, assuming the date works for him. Check out the thread on the boards to leave your input and to check out Kickem's success rates.
