After struggling through the Initiate ranks, it's finally time to be promoted.  Congratulations!  Now you need to prove your loyalty to your society by tracking down a rogue thief and recovering an ancient Falatacot relic.

Step 1:  Preparation.  To be ready for promotion, you will need to have turned in 95 Commendation Ribbons to your society.  Since you can only turn in a maximum of 50 ribbons a week as an initiate, you will need to wait at least two weeks from joining a society.  After you have turned in the last set of ribbons, go find  your society's Inspector of Adepts and he will give you your task.  You will be fighting Undead and a couple humans, so a fire rending Undead Slayer would be your best bet.  The undead wield hollow weapons, so plan accordingly.  You will also want to soft tie to the surface portal to the Mage Academy, which is almost due north of Neydisa Castle.  When you are ready, go into the nearby Corrupted Catacombs, located at 74.8N 18.4E.  Go inside and buff up.

Step 2:  Keys.  Once you are ready, you will need to fight your way through the north, east, and west corridors, which are protected by Undead and then later by humans loyal to one of the three societies.  The humans of your society will not attack you on sight (and you shouldn't attack them!).  At the end of each passage is a Captain.  Kill the two Captains of opposing society and you will find keys on their corpses.  Your society's Captain will hand you a key when you talk to him.  Save yourself some time and portal recall after you have a key from each wing.  Once you have all three keys, look to the south.  The passage is blocked by a locked door.  ID the door and use the matching key to open it.  Fight your way through this corridor and open the other locked doors in the same manner.  At the end, you will find more humans, but these are loyal to no society.  Dispatch them and their commander, Benedino.  On his corpse, you will find the Lens of Filinuvekta, the item you were instructed to recover.  Grab it and hurry back to your society's stronghold - like the mana stone from your initiation, this item has a lifespan.  Return it to your Inspector of Adepts and you will be rewarded.

Step 3:  Rewards.  Your Inspector will reward you with a large chunk of XP (capping past 600M XP) and send you to the Promotions Officer.  Talk to him and you will earn your promotion to Adept.  Additionally, you will receive 10 society coins, and an Adept's Treasure Key.  This key has two uses on the nearby chests.

Adept Tasks

Now that you are an adept, you have more tasks available to you.  You will also be able to turn in 100 ribbons a week, which is nice, because the adept tasks provide you with more ribbons than the initiate tasks.  Each completed task will earn you 15 commendation ribbons and another 4 society coins.

Graveyard Tasks

Quest 1 - Archeology.  Your job is to investigate the Wight Burrow, a very short subterranean dungeon in the central west exit from the Graveyard.  As you might expect, the tunnels are guarded by Wights, as well as a Captain and a Blade Sorcerer at the very end.  Next to the WBS is a large stone.  You will need to use (ie, doubleclick) the tracing paper your society's NPC gave you on the stone to make a copy.  Because regular Wights are slow and there are only two boss Wights, running through the burrow to get the tracing is probably your best bet.  Make sure you are out of combat mode before you try to make your rubbing or else your attempt will fail.  After you have your rubbing, head back to your stronghold.

Quest 2 - Resupply Massilor.  One of your Adept task NPCs will ask you to take some supplies to an Undead named Massilor in the Graveyard.  The portal to his dungeon is located at the southeast exit, so run right in.  Inside you will find several Grave Rats but nothing more dangerous than that.  Run or fight your way through and you will find Massilor at the end.  Talk to him (don't try to hand him his supplies) and he will grab what he needs from you.  Return to the stronghold for your rewards.

Dark Isle Tasks

Quest 3 - Crystal of Perception.  One of your Adept Taskmasters wants to know if the Ley Line chaos is affecting Dark Isle.  To figure this out, you will need to take the Crystal of Perception he gives you to three special places on Dark Isle.  Each is marked with a pile of rocks.  The first is located at the entrance to Vaeshok's cave, on the eastern hill of the island.  Simply use the rock pile to advance the quest.  Next, you will need to find a pile of rocks in the Coral Forest, located at 87.4N 56.9E.  Use the rocks quickly, as this point is not nearly as safe as the previous one.  Last, you need to journey to the far end of the island to the Ruschk Iceberg.  At the very top is the third pile of rocks.  Make sure you dispel any cold vulns you might have before trying this, as the Ruschk up there will not be happy to see you.  Once you have used all three rock piles, you can return to the stronghold.

Quest 4 - Black Coral.  Your society is worried about a new kind of coral that has been appearing on Dark Isle - a black variety that emanates the same kind of power as Grael did.  Your job is to collect 12 pieces for study.  These pieces of coral spawn on the landscape in the same places as the higher level spawn (so pretty much everywhere but the shore).  If you are running a plugin like Alinco, simply add "Black Coral" and run around.  If you are a purist, use [ and ] to search.  Running around the Dark Isle looking for coral can be particularly dangerous, so I hope you are fast!  Once you have all 12 pieces, return them to your stronghold.  Talk to your taskmaster to complete the quest - no need to hand them in.

Quest 5 - Falatacot Reports.  Groups of Falatacot have appeared on Dark Isle and your society wants to know why.  Your job is to collect 10 battle reports, items dropped by each group's Blood Priestess leader.  Like everything else on Dark Isle, the group leader spawns after a random Consort dies, so you may need to kill 1, 2, 3, or all 4 Consorts in a pack to spawn the Blood Priestess.  All of the Falatacot have very strong magic D and armor.  Non-mages would be best served by fire vulning and using an AR fire undead slayer, while mages can simply blast away with a fire undead slayer.  Blood Priestesses drop their reports at a 100% rate, so you will only need to dispatch 10 packs to complete this task.  When you are done, return to your stronghold and talk to the taskmaster - no need to hand the notes in.

Promotion Suggestions

The good news about the Adept tasks is that you can do the GY tasks very quickly and you can do the DI tasks all at the same time.  Nevertheless, as an Adept, you do not need to do all 5 of the tasks and all 5 of the Initiate tasks to reach your weekly ribbon quota.  My suggestion is that you ignore the Falatacot Reports task.  Even if you have very solid magical skills (regardless of class), the Falatacot are difficult to kill.  The other four tasks can be done quickly, earning you 60 ribbons toward your 100 ribbon quota.  Finish off the other 40 ribbons by doing the following Initiate level tasks:
