Fiun Ayabar's Laboratory

Although many of the Fiun seem resigned to the end of their species, some have not given up hope.  One of these is Fiun Ayabar, who lives in a great laboratory that guards the entrance to the Shattered Outlands.

Step 1:  Preparation.  Begin your quest by heading to the Fiun Outpost.  There is a portal north-northeast of Sanamar around 77N 59E.  When you arrive, find Senior Sage Shibak.  You need to greet him in order to be flagged to enter the Lab.  Now buff up - you'll be fighting Fiun exclusively, but you will need to run around the Isle of Ruin, so you'll need full protects as well as physical and acid banes.  Fire seems to work the best against Fiun.  When you are buffed, head southeast out of town and you will come across a Silyun portal.  If everyone in your group is over level 80, take it and then take the Plains of Ruin portal just NE of Silyun.  If anyone is less than level 80, you will have to run.  Keep going south until you reach a great ice bridge.  Once you cross it (or take the Plains of Ruin portal), head for the Lab at 92.1N 46.3W.

Step 2:  Ayabar's Laboratory.  This dungeon is a maze, but fortunately, you don't have to navigate much of it.  From the drop, head down a ramp and you will come to a four-way intersection.  Turn right and you will come to a large cluster of small rooms, all behind closed doors.  Make your way generally south, opening them all as you go.  You are looking for a spiral staircase behind one of them.  When you find it, go down.  Clear a couple larger rooms and you will reach a Y intersection.  Again turn right and look for another spiral stair to your right.  Head down it and you will come to a portal into Ayabar's Study.  This is technically another dungeon, but it's very simple.  Head north and you will come to a large door.  Behind it is a large room containing Fiun Ayabar, who sadly has gone insane, and a large number of his Assistants.  If you are a melee, dispatch them through the door.  If not, clear the place.  Check Ayabar's corpse for his Research Notes.  Everyone needs the notes, so you will have to kill Ayabar once for each person in your group.

Step 3:  Rewards.  Return to the Fiun Outpost and give the Senior Sage the notes.  He will reward you with the Spellcasting Gauntlets and 2.4 million XP.
