Back in the day, Dagger and Sword users were much stronger than other melee characters because of the Bandit Hilt.  These weapons had Multi-Strike capability, which allowed a short sword to strike twice and daggers to strike three times when used with enough skill.  Now, Bandit Weapons are more or less obsolete...

Step 1:  Get the Components.  To make your Hilt, you will need an Idol Gem and an Iron Golem Heart, which you can find all over the place.  Personally, I suggest the Halls of Metos or Golem Sanctum for the Heart and the Idol Spawning Grounds for the gem.  The Heart is very easy to find, but the Gem will probably take you some time to locate.

Step 2:  Visit MacNiall the Unruled.  MacNiall lives in the Vesayan town of MacNiall's Freehold, in the middle of the island chain.  To get there, head to the Vesayans via the portal just south of the Sho Master Mage in Mayoi.  Follow the islands past Kryst until you reach the Idol Spawning Grounds - now hug the righthand shore.  MacNiall's Freehold is on a small island a few degrees south.  Find MacNiall and give him your Idol Gem.  He will give you a letter to his cousin, MacDugal.

Step 3:  Bandit Castle.  Take MacNiall's note to Bandit Castle.  The easiest way to get there is by heading to Arwic and taking the Mountain Shortcut portal east of Subway.  From Mountain Shortcut, head East to the first settlement you reach, and then head North.  There is a portal to Bandit Castle guarded by some Rats.  Follow the path up to the Castle.  Inside, find MacDugal and give him the note.  He will give you an unfinished Hilt, which isn't balanced properly.  Use the Unfinished Hilt on your Iron Heart to fix it.

Step 4:  Attach the Hilt.  Now you need to find a suitable weapon to hilt.  You can only attach short swords (Yaojis, Simis, Rapiers, or Short Swords) or non-Dirk Dagger weapons.  The weapon cannot be tinkered either (which is why the Bandit Weapon is mostly obsolete now).

There are several Multi-Striking Quest weapons, so choose your Hilt weapon carefully.  The Obsidian Dagger from the Empyrean Mausoleum is a decent slashing/piercing dagger and the Noble Rapier and Stiletto both Multi-Strike.
