Baron's Amulet of Lifegiving

Difficulty:  5+ to survive, 15+ to solo
Level Restriction:  None
Timer:  1 Day
Can be Solo'd?  Yes
Rewards:  Baron's Amulet of Lifegiving

If you're a younger character with low health, this quest is for you.  Your reward is the Baron's Amulet of Lifegiving, an amulet that increases your health by 15. This is stackable with endurance buffs and has a low difficulty of 45, so you can use it without much trouble.  The quest is geared for lower level characters too, with nothing above lv 20.  The only problem is that after the monster spawn changes a few months ago, the targeted audience can't get to the dungeon!  You'll need to find a higher level friend to summon you there if you have any hope of survival.

Colier Mines is located in the basement of a building in the abandoned town of Colier, located at 56.8N, 38.4E.  Before you head into the dungeon, you will need to pick up 2 keys.  The Cell key is located on a Drudge Prowler inside a building on the outskirts of town.  The other key, the Small Rusted key, is on a Banderling Raider in a building near the dungeon.  Be on the lookout for higher level drudges (Raveners and Stalkers) and banderlings (especially enforcers and thrashers). They can sneak up on you when you are fighting their lower level cousins.  Once you have these two keys, head into the mines.

When you're inside, buff yourself up (if you really need to).  Your main opposition will be mostly banderlings and drudges initially, then undead later on.  Fire is a decent weapon choice.  As for protects, if you need them at all, stick with the physical protects for the first half.  The undead in the second half will use elemental attacks, but even those are quite weak.  When I go, I do the dungeon in a robe with my self buffing Blackfire Atlan.  When you're ready, use your Small Rusted Key on the big black door in front of you and head into the mine.

The first thing you'll notice about this dungeon is that it's a big annoying maze.  You really should invest in a map, such as this handy one.  Keep an eye on where you are.

When you first enter the mine, you are at a T intersection.  Head right, and you will come to a series of T intersections.  You'll want to go left, right, then left and head toward a shut door with a drudge inside it.  Enter the door and then open the next door you find inside.  Follow the pathway up and to the left.  You have now entered the cell row.  Turn right here, ignoring the enemies locked up in the dungeon.  You will reach a locked door with a path that bears off to the left inside it.  Use your cell key on this door and follow the path.  You will come across an undead miner in the second hallway to the left.  This fellow has two keys you will need, the Scratched Key and the Baron's Key. Each member of your party will need a key from this guy, so you will have to camp here a while.  Respawn on him is 5 min, so this could take you a while.  (On a side note, back in the day when I first did this, the spawn rate on the undead miner and the next chest was well over half an hour, so be thankful turbine changed that...)

After everyone has a key, head back the way you came to the ground floor where you started.  When you reach the room with two doors and the drudge inside, you are on the right floor.  From this room, head straight into an open room with several drudges in it.  Dispatch them, and continue on.  To your right, there will be another open room with drudges, but this room will also have a lever.  To your left is the door the lever opens.  Have most of your party stand next to the door and send one person to use the lever.  There is a pressure plate next to the door, so you might have to pull the lever more than once.  When everyone is in, jump down the small drop to the basement.

In this level, there are 4 rooms, one of which contains the chest you are searching for.  The correct room is the one to the NE.  Make sure you're in the right room by trying to open the chest.  After verifying your location, each member of your team needs to unlock the chest and take out the treasure key inside.  Again, this is on a 5 minute timer.  To avoid accidents, have the person who used his key last hold the chest open until it automatically closes to assure it has reset.

When everyone has their treasure key, head back out and go through the first + intersection you come to, then turn left at the next passageway.  This will lead you up through a few banderlings to another drop.  Hop on down, and you'll be back on the Cell level.  Exit this room, turn left, then right, and you'll be back in the cell row. Find the pathway down, and head back to the entrance.  When you have arrived back at the large metal doors, head left and down the ramp before you.  On this floor, you are looking for a wooden locked door.  To get there, follow the right wall until you reach a Y intersection.  You will want to bear off left here.  You will go through another room, and then you will be at the wooden door.  It is quite easy to get lost here, so pay attention to where you're going.  Use your Baron's Key on this door.

From here on, you will be facing many more undead miners, so watch your health if you are a low level.  You will come to another Y intersection as you follow the path here.  SIDEQUEST - if you ever want to get an Impious Staff, now's the time to pick up some iron ore.  If you follow the right path, you will come to a pair of rooms with a wheelbarrow in the righthand one.  This wheelbarrow works like a chest and spawns the ore.  Note that this ore is still on a very long timer - at least half an hour.  It is NOT worth camping because you'll be there forever.  If you are going in a larger group, let the Gharu mage have the ore.

If you don't have any desire to get ore, take the left fork at the Y intersection and head down further into the mine.  You will come to a room with a couple banderlings and another downward slope.  Head down and keep going until you come to a 3-way split.  Take the righthand path and fight deeper into the mine. Continue until you come to a larger L shaped room with 2 exits.  Take the far one with the white haze in it.  Continue until you reach another locked wooden door.  Use your Baron's Key again here.  From here on, it's a straight path to the Baron.

The Baron's room is a large square room with a smaller square room in the middle.  The Baron usually doesn't leave the smaller room, but he is surrounded by lots of undead miners.  Your melees can take care of some of these through the door before the last room to save some magic damage.  Clear this room and kill the Baron. He does not carry the amulet - you will need to use your key on the righthand chest in the smaller room.  Make sure you use your key on the correct chest.  Again, it is a good idea to keep the chest open until it resets to avoid accidents.  This chest is also on about a 5 minute timer.

Congrats, you now have a useful item to help you stay alive.  Wear it with pride.
