The Viamonters have a penchant for Beer and you will too after you discover its most potent properties!  First you need to recover Rand's copy of the Brewmaster's Bible and earn yourself a Kettle.

Step 1:  Preparation.  Head to Sanamar first.  You can talk to Rand first if you like, but it isn't necessary.  This quest will take you about an hour (you can do it in a buff if you are fast) and is *NOT* a good quest to do in a group.  The first of the pieces is on a 15 minute timer.  If you arrive at the end of the first dungeon and see someone waiting on that piece, you may want to leave, do one or two other pieces, and head back later.  You will be fighting a variety of monsters on this quest - Drudges, Banderlings, Eaters, Fiuns, Ruschks, Rats, and a couple Viamontian Knights.  Pick your favorite weapon and buff it.  You will need all the protections.  If you don't have melee defense, bane against the physicals.

Step 2:  Waterfall Cave.  Take the Cataracts of Sabella portal north of Sanamar at 75.9N, 61.3W and then run to the dungeon at 84.0N, 75.4W.  This dungeon is basically linear - head down any ramps you find and jump into the sole pit you encounter.  If you come to a locked door, you've gone the wrong way - back up and look for the pit on the same floor.  After you jump down the pit, you are practically at the end.  You will find the Brewmaster's Spine on the floor in the same room as the portal.  There is also a note called "Sdolin Buk!", which directs you to another dungeon.  Again, the spine is on a LONG timer - 15 minutes.  If you don't see it, just wait.

Step 3:  Remote Empyrean Vault.  This dungeon is located at 81.7N, 71.2W, on a small island between Lotila and Traitor's Islands.  You are relatively close to this dungeon already if you are still by the Waterfall Cave.  This dungeon is actually part of 2 other quests, so you may want to plan accordingly.  You can find the second piece of the Healing Machine and an Engorged Eater jaw in addition to the book piece.  From the drop, you will head down a ramp into a group of hallways, leading to more ramps in each cardinal direction (two lead to the north).  Head down one of the north ramps and find the ramp leading down (between the two ramps you just came down).  You will quickly come to a four-way intersection.  The Healing machine piece is off to the east here, so pick it up if you are doing that quest as well.  If not, take either the south or west corridor.  Head down the ramp and into a large L shaped room with a small divot out of the middle of the L.  You will find the Front Cover of the book in that divot.  If you want to get the Engorged Jaw, keep going down!

Step 4:  Viamontian Garrison.  To get to this dungeon, head to Westwatch via Sanamar and run to 75.3N, 73.8W.  This dungeon is rather small and quite simple to navigate - you really can't make a mistake!  The easiest way to find the Back Cover is to go through the door immediately to your left as you enter.  The path from here on is quite linear, so you shouldn't have any trouble.  When you reach a series of small rooms, start using [ and ] to find the Cover.  It should be in the middle room on the east side.  Pick it up and head out.

Step 5:  Lola's Den.  This final dungeon is north of Silyun on Traitor's Island at 91.9N, 69.6W.  I managed to get quite lost in this dungeon, so consult the map first.  From the drop, follow the corridors to the east until you reach a large room with a ramp leading down the middle of the room.  Take that ramp and follow the corridor until you reach a T intersection.  Make sure you go south here or you will miss the Book piece.  You will quickly come to another T intersection - take either path, as they both lead to the same place.  You will eventually come to a T intersection with a ramp leading down and to the east - take this ramp.  You will quickly find the exit portal - the Pages to the Bible are nearby.  You now have all the pieces, so assemble your book.

Step 6:  Rewards.  Return to Rand in Sanamar.  Give him the completed book and he will give you your own copy, 50,000 XP, and (most importantly) your very own Brew Kettle.  The kettle allows you to make your own Beer.  It is giveable, so you can do this quest with your main character and then pass off your kettle to a mule.

Recipes:

There are a vast variety of brews you can make, but most of them will make you sick or very drunk!  All recipes follow the general formula:

Kettle + Water + Barley + Hops + Yeast +Keg + Bottles

Here are the most useful:

Glorious Amber Ale:  Amber Barley + Ultra Green Hops + Dried Yeast (+75 Stamina)

Amber Ape:  Amber Barley + Ultra Green Hops + Dried Yeast + Tusker Spit (+50 Coord for 30 Min)

Tusker Spit Ale:  Plain Barley + Ultra Green Hops + Dried Yeast + Tusker Spit (+50 Focus for 30 Min)

Bobo's Stout:  Roasted Barley (use baking pan on Plain Barley) + Ultra Green Hops + Dried Yeast + Tusker Spit (+50 Quick for 30 Min)

Unfortunately, the Tusker Spit brews don't stack with standard buffs.  Tusker Spit is a fairly common trophy from Tuskers, especially  Devestators.  Each brew makes a whopping 50! bottles of Beer.  You can purchase the best Hops and Yeast in Westwatch and the rest of your supplies in Sanamar.

New in November 2005 are Moarsmen beer.  Instead of using Tusker Spit, you will need to collect Moarsmuck.  There are a lot of great places to find large numbers of Moarsmen, especially on Xi Ru's island (the one south of Sanctuary).  All level Moarsmen seem to drop Muck, but the rate seems to be higher on higher level Moarsmen.  The recipes are basically the same as the Tusker Spit brews:

Apothecary Zongo's Stout (+50 Strength) - Roasted Barley
Duke Raoul's Distillation (+50 Self) - Plain Barley
Hunter's Stock Amber (+50 Endurance) - Amber Barley
