Isparians aren't the only race plagued by the Burun invaders. The Mosswarts bore the brunt of their wrath, killing the Mosswarts wherever they were found. Bleeargh, leader of a group of Mosswarts in the Blackmire Swamp, has sought help from us. His prizes range from the utterly useless to the bizarre to the unique.
There are 6 parts to this quest, as well as an additional higher level corollary quest. Each quest gives you three rewards - a basically useless Mosswart item, a Mosswart Thanking Stone, and flagging to use the Carved Mosswart Statue. To earn your rewards, take the Mosswart treasure from each quest to Bleeargh, the Swamp Lord in Yanshi. You can turn the Thanking Stone in at any casino for a 5% chance at a retired Pack Doll. The Carved Mosswart Statue is a reward from the King Toad Idol quest. Using it will teach you all the Item Magic spells from a certain tier, depending on which quest you complete. Completing the third quest flags you to learn 'Lifestone Sending,' a unique spell that transports you to the Lifestone to which you are attuned (similar to typing /lifestone, but in less time and using less mana).
Quest 1: Kreerg's Spear. This quest and Quest 2 start out of Shoushi. Your job is to head northeast of Shoushi to a small pack of Drudges located at 30.8S, 74.1E. One of the Prowlers carries several keys that unlock a chest the pack protects. Use the key on the chest and pick up the Spear of Kreerg. Return it to Bleeargh and he will give you a replica (Kreerg's Spear), a Thanking Stone, and flag you to learn all level I item spells.
Quest 2: Banderling Hovel. On your way back from the Drudge Pack, head into the Banderling Hovel at 32S, 72.8E. Hug the right wall as you go, jump down at the first ledge you come to, and then continue to hug the right wall. The Hand of Vagurat is on a pedestal in a smaller room. Pick it up and you can leave. Return it to Bleeargh and receive Vagurat's Hand, a Thanking Stone, and be flagged to learn all level II item spells.
Quest 3: Mossy Cave. This quest is arguably the most important, as you will learn Lifestone Sending as a reward. Head to Yanshi and run south to 14.2S, 46E. You will be fighting a whole lot of Burun Scamps, so buff a frost weapon. They won't hurt you much, but they will run you out of stamina pretty quickly. This dungeon is also an annoying maze, so consult the map frequently. From the drop, run straight ahead, going down a ramp in the middle of the first room. Follow the path and you will come up a similar ramp in another large room. You will come to a T intersection - head either way and you will come up another ramp. There will be two exits in this room - one to the south and one to the east or west (depending on which path you took before). Take the path that *isn't* the path to the south. The next room has plants and odd cauldron-looking things in it, as well as two ramps leading into the middle. Kill everything in this room. One of the Burun will drop keys. Make sure everyone has one, then head back the way you came. Now take the south exit from the prior room. Continue south and you will enter a very large room. Head to the far end of the room and you will see two paths leading west and east. Take the west passage, up a ramp, and look for 'An Old Chest' among the reeds. Use your key and pick up the Necklace of Leeargh. Return to Bleeargh and trade the necklace for Leeargh's Necklace, a Thanking Stone, and flagging for all level III item spells.
Quest 4: Dark Mosswart Hall. This quest and Quest 5 leave from Kryst in the Vesayan Islands, so do them both together. You will be fighting mid-level Mosswarts and Shadows Lieutenants, so buff a fire weapon. If you are below 75 or so, protect everything. From Kryst, head to 74.2S, 83.6E. From the drop, you can either take all rights or all lefts - either will get you to the end. The final room has a large subdivision in the middle. You will find the Eye of Drageerg on a pedestal. Pick it up and head up a ramp on the north wall of the room, where you will find an exit portal. Return the Eye to Bleeargh for The Eye of Drageerg, a Thanking Stone, and flagging for all level IV item spells. The eye sure is creepy!
Quest 5: Umbral Hall. From Kryst (or the last dungeon), head to 75.8S, 83.1E. If you aren't using your secondary portal tie, this dungeon is a nice addition. As you will see, there are 20 portals to out-of-the-way places in this dungeon. There are also mid-level Mosswarts, Shadows up to Panumbris, and Idols (including some Dreads). From the drop, take any of the four paths. You will quickly come to one of the portal rooms. Find the passage in the middle of the left wall and follow it up to a hole. Jump down and follow the corridor to a large room with a small division in the middle. Inside the division you will find a Mire Witch Loincloth. Return it to Bleeargh and he will give you a Mire Witch's Loincloth, a Thanking Stone, and flag you to learn all the level V item spells.
Quest 6: Watery Grotto. This last dungeon is located at 23.8S 47.2E. Your best bet is to head to Yanshi, take the Swamp Temple Place Portal (10.3S, 45.6E) and then run. Inside are lots of Burun Adherents and Ruffians. Fortunately, it is easy enough to run to the end and pick up the reward. From the drop, head straight ahead, going down a ramp and then coming back up again in a larger room. Now head south up a ramp and into an even larger room. Continue going south and you will find yourself in another large room with a widely sloping floor. Run to the top of the room and you will find Mosswart War Paint sitting on a pedestal. Grab one and head back to Bleeargh. He will give you Swamp Lord's War Paint, a Book, a Thanking Stone, and flag you to learn all the level VI item spells.
Corollary: King Toad Idol. Specifics of this quest are detailed elsewhere (or they will be, anyway). One of the rewards for completing this quest is a Carved Mosswart Statue. This item may only be hooked at a mansion. Once you have been flagged to learn spells, simply use it and it will add whatever item spells you haven't learned to your spellbook.
