Browerk
Difficulty:
60+ to survive with a sizeable group of at least one full fellowship, 80+
Recommended
Level Restriction: 60+
Timer: 21 Days
Can be Solo'd? No
Rewards: Random selection of Experience, Portal Devices, Armsman's Robe,
or Noble Armor/Weapon imbue gems
Step 1: Preparation. This quest is much much longer than any of the other 5 kings and you will need a much stronger team. I'd suggest no less than 1 and a half fellows minimum. Otherwise, you will take too long to kill Browerk and you will suffer too many casualties. Have your team gather in Ayan Baqur by the Watcher, located at 60.1S, 88.1W.
Step 2: Preparing the Fonts. About an hour before your quest is scheduled to start, use the Watcher. You will be teleported to a Falatacot haven off the Vesayans. You will need to unlock 4 fonts to advance the quest, which are located inside stone heads in the pond in front of the drop point. You can do this part solo if you have lockpick. Otherwise, make a group of 2 or 3 people tops, with at least one lockpicker. Your objective is to make your way to the bottom of each dungeon and hit the valve at the bottom, running if you are solo, picking your fights if you have a group. Monsters inside are Moarsmen, so buff a frost weapon, bane and protect acid, frost, and flame. Each dungeon has an identical layout, but the functional lever is located in a different section. The first lever actually opens a grate beneath the drop point, allowing you to jump down to the lower level. You and the lockpicker will run north and hug the right wall. Find the correct lever in the larger room and run back up to where you fell in. Now run down the east path, hugging the right wall, until you come to an open gate. Head through and down into the last room. Hit the valve and take the exit portal. Now do the other dungeons. Below are maps and which levers work.
North Font - NE, E
East Font - SW, E
Southeast Font - SE, N
Southwest Font - NW, E
Once all 4 Valves are open, rejoin your group in Ayan and wait until quest time. When it's time to go, have everyone use the Watcher and then run up the large tower in front of the drop point. Run to the top and full-power jump across toward the crystal. Have everyone move down the stairwell while you stay up top. Greet the Statue and if you have done everything correctly, a portal will appear inside the floating tower. Everyone needs to go through. The portal stays open for some time, but it doesn't stay open forever, so go through ASAP.
Step 3: Qin Xikit's Hidden Cavern. Once everyone has downloaded this dungeon, it's time to buff up. Buff up for Burun - frost weapons, physical and acid banes, and all protects. When your group is done buffing, hit the lever behind you and enter the next room. You alone should use the Dais in the middle of the room while everyone else heads north. The Dais will give you a crown and after a few moments, several Ghosts will spawn. Have your group kill them and after the Ancient Defender ghost dies, the doorway to the north will open briefly. Get through ASAP! Head right and you will come to a second lever. Once everyone has arrived, hit the lever and go through the door. Give the crown to the Dais and a portal will appear. Go through it.
Step 4: Qin Xikit's Temple. You will appear on a small island off the western shores of the Direlands. There are no monsters here, fortunately. When everyone has downloaded, run to the northwest and you will find a huge temple. Climb it and jump down inside. There is a portal device in the middle of the room. Use it - it may or may not be functional. If it is functional, have everyone else use it too. If it isn't working, get 3 volunteers. There are 4 eyes inside the temple - one in each direction. Have your volunteers each pick a direction and use the eye. Be careful - there are Wailing Statue traps in front of the Eye. When you use the eye, you will take 5% vitae. Ideally, you will have your lowest level characters be the eye volunteers, as they will likely burn off the vitae before anyone else. After all 4 eyes have been used, the portal device will work. Have your team use the portal device.
Step 5: Inside Qin Xikit's Temple. This section is just like the Maze parts of the other 5 kings. From the drop, take the east exit on the north wall. Hug the right wall, fighting your way through the corridor. Hit the lever and enter a large room. Kill the spawn and find the NW lever door. There are pressure plates in front of the large stone heads in the middle of the room, so you should go hit them while your group waits by the door. Head back when it opens. There is a second lever door just past the first one - hit the button and enter another large room. Kill the spawn, hugging the right wall again. The next lever door is in the SW corner of the room. Hit the button and enter a small corridor. Fight through it, open the lever door with the nearby button, and follow the corridor. You'll find another lever door with a button next to it - open it and you'll soon reach another large room. Have your team kill the spawn while you head along the west wall. Find the door and stand in front of it to open the lever door. Run inside, hit the lever, and instruct your group to follow you to the now open door to the southwest. Hug the right wall and you'll find the last lever door up a couple ramps. Open it and you'll be in the Portal Device room. This time, the portal device doesn't work - use the small Statue immediately to its right to advance to the puzzle.
Step 6: Blood. From the drop, jump down the pit right in front of you. You will see a pool of blood and 3 statues. Pick up a water skin near the pool. You will need to add six pints of blood to your skin by using the bag on the pool 6 times (use - doubleclick, not give). Once your bag has 6 pints in it, give it to the west statue. Before you give the skin, ID it and make sure it says it has 6 pints. Sometimes, with a large group, the pool will be depleted. After you have given your skin to the statue, jump down the exit to the south and use the portal.
Step 7: The Gauntlet. Just like the other Kings, you now need to make your way through the gauntlet. This time, you will be hugging the right wall as you head through the dungeon. When you come to a section with a grated floor, find the ramps leading down and take either one. Continue hugging the right wall and you will eventually come to a Guardian. Use it and you will be teleported to Qin Xikit's Inner Sanctum.
Step 8: Qin Xikit and Browerk. The Guardian will drop you into Qin Xikit's tomb. Line up and, one at a time, use the Sarcophagus to receive an Ancient Armored Helm. Everyone above 100+ will get a piece comparable to 100+ Ancient Armor. Everyone below 100 will get a 70+ version. After everyone has their Helm, gather by the Portal Device in the SW corner of the room. Rebuff - same as before. Once each person has finished buffing, have them use the portal device. They will get 5% vitae and land in Browerk's lair. Fortunately, there are a good number of Burun between you and Browerk, but higher level characters will still have vitae by the time you reach Browerk. Once everyone has finished buffing and has downloaded Browerk's lair, head east into a corridor. Enter a large rectangular room and find the exit along the west wall. Take it and take an immediate right down a ramp. You will enter a room that looks like a King's chamber, but it's a decoy. Drop your fellows now. Keep heading north and you will find Browerk. This fight is a whole lot harder! Instead of mid-level Burun and Guruk, you will be fighting the cream of the Burun crop - Shamans and Gorefiends. Browerk himself is a lot tougher too - he has a whole lot more health. It will take you at least 30 minutes to kill him, even with a large team. Be very careful and you'll survive. If you can, try to lure him into one of the hallways to keep the spawn attacking your archers and mages down to a minimum. If your group isn't on a pace to be able to kill him within one buff, instruct your fellows to rebuff in the stomach when they get eaten next It's nice and safe there. Make sure everyone is out of the stomach and has a piece of hide before you leave. Fortunately, the spawn stops, so you won't have to keep fighting while waiting on the hides to respawn.
Step 8: Rewards. Head to Cragstone and locate Guard Haigh at 25.7N, 48.8E. This time, you will be guaranteed 10 Million XP, in addition to the random reward.
Gem of Inner Brilliance - For use in Noble Armor. Adds a +12 Focus cantrip.
Gem of Mana Management - For use in a Burun-Slaying Sceptre. Increases the mana conversion bonus to the wand.
Gem of Damage Modification - For use on Burun-Slaying Longbow, Crossbow, or Atlatl. Increases the modifier. (Here's the Xbow)
Gem of Damage Addition - For use in a Burun-Slaying melee weapon. Increases the base damage. (Here's the new Regal Axe.)
Dangerous Portal Device - For Mansions only. Randomly teleports the user to West Aphus Lassel, the Center of the Obsidian Plains, or the Valley of Death.
15,000,000 XP
You can either give Haigh your hide in exchange for the title "Browerk Killer" or you can hang on to it, combine it with the other 5 hides, and turn it in for the title 'Kingslayer' and a hookable Kukuur Float, a decoration for your home.
