Many Fiun have given up hope, but some still cling to the possibility of restoring their race.  Fiun Scorus believes the key to the restoration lies in an ancient machine of Empyrean design.  If you can reassemble it, maybe the Fiun have a chance.

Step 1:  Preparation.  This quest is quite long - there are a total of seven dungeons to visit!  You must visit the dungeons in the correct order to be able to pick up the quest items, so don't try to skip steps.  It is possible to do this quest without lockpick, but you will need to bring along 5 SIKs and spend some time in one of the later dungeons hunting for a key.  When you are ready, head to Silyun and talk to Scorus, located at 87.5N, 70.3W.  He will give you a note containing the locations of all the dungeons you will need to visit - convenient!  You might as well buff up here - you'll be fighting Fiun, Eaters, Ruschk, and some Undead.  A slashing weapon is your best bet if you want to buff a single weapon.  Be sure to put up all your protects and bane against pretty much everything (possibly excluding fire and lightning).

Step 2:  Small Empyrean Vault.  Your first stop is located at 80.4N 74W, which is north of Westwatch.  This dungeon requires you to find a key to reach the end room.  Begin by heading westward until you reach a large room with paths leading off to in all four directions.  Head south from here and you will reach a T intersection with two paths leading downward.  You can take either one, but remember which you took - shortly after the ramp you will find a turn off in the opposite direction of the path you took.  Take this turn and you will reach a multi-tiered room.  Scan the room and you will find a key.  Grab it and make your way back north to the large room.  Continue heading north and you will reach a series of stairwells heading down.  At the base is a locked door.  Use your key and you will find yourself in a large room.  The north end of the room has a chest next to the surface portal.  Use your SIK or pick the chest and grab the Lavus.

Step 3:  Remote Empyrean Vault.  Now head to a small island ENE of the first dungeon, located at 81.7N 71.2W.  This dungeon has an Eater Jaw and part of the Brewmaster's Bible in addition to the Healing Machine Piece, so you might want to grab those pieces too.  From the drop, head down the ramp and you will be at the center of a ring-shaped room.  Work your way out to the ring and then head north.  You will find a single ramp leading down on the central wall of the ring.  Go down and you will quickly reach a four-way intersection.  Turn left and then go south - you will come to a door protecting a small room with a chest inside.  Open the chest and grab the Tihn inside.  The next dungeon is pretty far away, so you might as well recall out.

Step 4:  Hidden City.  Head for Silyun - this next dungeon is located north of town on a small ice island at 94.4N 70W.  The beginning of the dungeon is quite linear, so follow the main corridor until you reach a large square room with an enclosure in the middle.  This room has four exits - you want to go east.  It's a straight shot to the end, where you will find the chest right next to the exit portal.  Grab the Pedestal and recall out.

Step 5:  Frozen Library.  This dungeon and the next one are located close to the Fiun Outpost, so start there.  Run to 90.7N 56.4W and enter the dungeon.  This place is very annoying if you don't know the right path to take - you can get very close to the end but you will be stopped by resistance 9999 locked doors!  Also, you are not looking for a Healing Machine piece in here.  There is a key to the Ruschk Iceberg (the next dungeon) kept here and that is why you are visiting.  All you need to know in this dungeon is to make left turns when you can.  Head down the ramp and you will reach a large room with a gallery above the entryway.  Head up one of the staircases and find the exit on the west wall.  Do your best to make your way north and west from here and you will reach another tiered-level room.  The exit is in the lower section, so jump down if you are up top.  You will pass through a short corridor and then find yourself in a group of small rooms behind doors.  Open them and you will find a pit in one of the southeastern ones.  Jump down and scan the floor - the key is right by the exit portal.  Grab it and hit the portal.

Step 6:  Ruschk Iceberg.  Run along the coastline back to the Fiun Outpost and then to 96.3N 60W.  The dungeon is atop an iceberg, so look for the ramp leading up.  If you are a melee, be sure your shield has anti-Ruschk banes on it, or this place will hurt a lot.  From the drop, work your way north until you reach a four-way intersection.  Head west and you will quickly come to another four-way.  Turn north and continue heading north until you reach a locked door.  Use the key you got in the Frozen Library to open it and you will come to a pit.  Jump down.  From here, you can't really get lost - just go east.  The final room is another tiered room - the chest is by the exit portal.  Grab the Hook and recall out.

Step 7.  Knath Lair.  It's time to leave the Halaetans.  Knath Lair is a very old dungeon located in the Obsidian Rim.  Our mansion has a portal device to the dungeon, but if you have to run, the fastest way is to recall to Aerlinthe and take the portal chain to the Valley of Death Lifestone in the Obsidian Rim.  Then you need to run to 49.8S 56.3W.  This dungeon has a couple locked doors in it that are readily pickable if you have lockpick.  If you do not have lockpick, you will need to kill Knaths until one of them drops a Knath Key.  Fortunately, there are a few south of the portal drop in the dungeon that you can reach without the key.  When you can open the door, use it on one of the two locked doors in the entry room.  Follow the corridor and you will come to a larger room filled with Knaths.  There is a portal to the Greater Knath Lair in an anteroom.  Head through.  The Greater Knath Lair is identical to Knath Lair physically, but the Knaths inside are stronger.  If you have low magic defense, you can get overwhelmed in here, so be careful not to take on too many at a time.  Make your way through the dungeon in the same way.  At the end, you will find a Runic Skull on the ground next to the exit portal.  Grab one and then recall out.

Step 8:  Undead Temple.  The final dungeon you need to visit is located just outside Eastwatch.  If you are below level 80, you will need to run from the Fiun Outpost.  From Eastwatch, just jump off the north cliff and look for the portal at 90.9N 43.2W.  This dungeon is by far the most dangerous and is filled with the highest level Undead and Skeletons that aren't found in the Valley of Death.  The path through is fairly straightforward though, so if you are worried about your survival, running is an option.  From the drop, you will follow the main corridor until you reach a large U-shaped room.  Look for the series of small rooms in the middle of the U and make your way through them until you find the pit.  Jump down and you will be in a small room behind closed doors.  Both lead to the same place, so pick your favorite direction.  Following either path will lead you to a large room.  You will be atop a small platform connected to the lower level by a pair of ramps.  Head down and to the west.  Continue to the west and you will come to a large lever door protected by the Runic Door Guardian.  Give him your skull and the door will open.  Run up to the top of this tiered room and open the chest.  Inside is the final piece - the Orb.  Recall out when you have it.

Step 9:  Rewards.  Head back to Silyun.  While you're running, reassemble the Healing Machine by adding the pieces together in the order you received them.  Return the finished product to Scorus and you will receive your reward - 2 million XP, a Helm of Gratitude, and a Knath Lair Portal Device for mansions.  As the name implies, the portal device will return you to the Knath Lair.  It's the most stylish of the portal devices too!  The Helm is quite a fashion statement.
