Deep inside the Shattered Outlands is a hermit with a terrible wound that even the lifestones can't heal. There are some things that only a nasty mushroom can cure...
Step 1: Preparation. This quest is a pain in pretty much every aspect but one - the dungeon is summonable. Getting to the dungeon and fighting through the dungeon are unpleasant experiences. The dungeon is located in a bunker in the east side of the Shattered Outlands, AKA Vitae Valley, at 94.2N 43W. You could shave a couple seconds off your trip by starting at Egg Orchard, but you will still have to run through a lot of dangerous spawns. Buff before you start - all protects, all banes. Melees, bane your shield against fire, acid, and bludgeoning too if you don't usually. This might be a good time to break out your magic absorbing shield too. You will be fighting Thrungi exclusively, so use slash or fire. When you arrive at the bunker, go in and talk to the Hermit just outside the portal. He will give you a bag of lifestone chips. When everyone has their chips, go into the dungeon.
Step 2: Thrungus Hole. Your goal in this dungeon is to hand the bag of lifestone chips to each of the six Baby Thrungus NPCs in the dungeon. Each person needs to use each of the babies once. Each time you hand in the chips, several very strong Thrungi will spawn, making your life all the more difficult. The regular dungeon spawns hit hard and war/vuln frequently, but the Thrungi that spawn when you turn in the chips are worse because they have much more health. If you are attempting to do this quest alone, don't try to hack your way through the dungeon - you won't be able to outpace the spawn. Running (or using a magic D rare...) is your best bet. Regardless of how you plan on doing the quest, make a note of the Baby Thrungus locations from the map. There are a couple important locations to remember. At the bottom of the first ramp, there are 2 to your left, which I would recommend doing first. When you are done with the second one, portal recall back to the top. Now go down again and hug the right wall, which will take you to the third one in the first larger room you reach. When you are done with that one, go back out the way you came and keep hugging the right wall. You will go down a ramp and ultimately reach a very large room with frost trees in it. Be careful in here - fighting in the room will drag a lot of unwelcome guests on you from all over the dungeon. The fourth Baby is at the far end of this room. The remaining two NPCs live in rooms at the ends of paths leading out of this big room. I suggest taking the south path first, as there is an exit portal in the north room. Once everyone has turned in their chips to the sixth Baby Thrungus, you may take the surface portal back to the Hermit.
Step 3: Rewards. Upon your return to the Hermit, you will receive your reward, which is always XP (a %XP reward), Luminance, and a Thrungus Reaper title token. You will also receive some random tradeables, possibly trade notes, writs, or keys.
