The Burun Fortress was the beginning of the end for the Renegade/Burun alliance.  Neither side truly trusted the other and once the Burun Guruk arrived, the Burun Ruuk had no need for the Renegades.  Investigate the Burun Ruuks' motivation for breaking the alliance in the passages beneath the Burun Fortress.

Step 1:  Burun Hold.  Start your quest in Yanshi and head west to the Swamp Temple Place settlement portal at 10.3S 45.6E.  Buff up in the settlement - you will be fighting low-level Burun and Renegades up to the highest level Lugians and Tumeroks.  That means you'll want a lighting weapon, physical banes, and all protects.  Some of the Lugians are hollow, so bring along decent AL armor too.  When you are set, run to 24.2S 46.3E, where you will find the Hidden Passage, which is shaped like a rock but is in actuality a portal.  Your goal in this dungeon and the next 3 is to recover Reports to Niarltah.  There are 2 in this dungeon - scan with [ and ] to detect them.  Both texts in the first dungeon are near the end - one in the 3rd rectangular room off to the right and one right by the exit.  Pick them both up and then head into the portal to the Underway.

Step 2:  Underway.  This second dungeon also has two Reports.  From the drop, make your way through the east door in the large room.  Now follow the passages through several doors.  The first report is in a small room near the end (just prior to the Extas Raiders - if you get to them, you've gone too far).  Pick it up and make your way to the end, where you will find several Extas Raiders standing on top of the second note, just in front of the portal.  Kill them first to be safe and then grab the note.  If you are below level 60, it's time to head home.

Step 3:  Tunnels.  This dungeon has a total of 4 reports and you will have to do a bit of backtracking to get them all.  The first one is just by the drop point, so don't forget that one.  Again, go through the righthand door in the first large room.  This time, you will find a text in the next room you reach.  Now backtrack to the first room and take the left exit.  Follow the corridor and you will again find a report in the last room before the Raiders (Tiatus this time).  The fourth note is also in the last room, guarded by several Raiders and in front of the exit portal.  Once you have the notes, either take the portal or leave if you are below level 80.

Step 4:  Halls.  The final dungeon in this quest is much larger than the previous ones and contains 3 reports.  Each report may be found on the ground in a large, open room.  The first one is directly along the path through the dungeon, but the other two are in dead ends.  You shouldn't have much trouble, but it is possible to miss the rooms.  Consult the map in advance or just be very thorough.  Once you have all 3 notes from this dungeon, you should head back to Yanshi.

Step 5:  Rewards.  Find Guard Ydnew in a tent just west of the drop and start giving her your reports.  The first one you pick up isn't worth any experience or an item, but the other 10 are.  You will earn 1% of your level for each subsequent report in addition to a special item.  Honestly, I'm not sure which item you get for turning in each report - I'll have to be a bit more careful next time.  However, you will get 3 pieces of Aphus Clothing (Hat, Shirt, and Pants), a Guardian's Uniform, a Silken Wrap, and 5 pieces of jewelry (War Bracelet, Life Bracelet, Creature Ring, Item Ring, and Mana Conversion Necklace).  Many of the items have the unique property of adding an 11% bonus to your skill instead of a static number.  These spells surpass standard buffs regardless of which spell will increase the skill more.  At very high levels, the equipment is more potent than even level VII buffs!
