Defense Spells (IV through VII), Carved Mosswart Statue
The Burun have built a large Idol to their rulers, the Kukuur. Inside the statue is a dungeon filled with Burun bent on protecting powerful spells and a stolen Mosswart relic.
Step 1: Preparation. Each person who goes on this quest needs to be flagged. That means acquiring an 'Untranslated Writing', which are a fairly common drop on all types of Burun. These writings are giveable, so if you are leading the quest, you may want stock up to prevent pre-quest issues. I typically hunt the entrance of the Hidden Passage or the War Paint dungeon of the Swamp King's treasures quest. When you have your writing, take it to Arwic, where you will find Translator Aun Laokhe atop the central spire of town. Give him the writing and you will be permanently flagged to enter the King Toad Idol.
Step 2: King Toad Idol. Start your quest by using the Kivik Lir Portal device from the Blackmire 1 quest. Buff up here - you'll be fighting high level Burun Ruuks and Guruks, so physical and acid banes, all protects, and a frost weapon. You'll also want to bring along good AL armor to guard against the Guruks. When you are done buffing, run to the Idol, located at 39.3S 51.1W. Use the Idol to enter the dungeon. Once you are inside, pick one of the paths ahead of you and follow it until you see a path leading to the south. Take that path and you will go down a path and reach a T intersection. If you head left here, you will reach a four-way intersection. Make note of this point - you will return here several times. You will want to go down each of the 4 paths here. Each path leads to a triangular room with a ramp leading down on the far side of the triangle. The path will lead to a large room containing many Burun and 3 scrolls on the ground. I typically go down the east path at the four-way intersection first, as the room at the end of that path is where the level VII spells spawn. The west section is slightly different - across from the ramp leading down is a corridor to another large room where you can find the Carved Mosswart Statue. Plan your quest accordingly - only Monarchs have any use for the Statue and most people will never cast the IV through VI spells. You may want to only bother with the VII spells. Once everyone has their spells, head out.
Step 3: Rewards. Head back to Arwic and give the spell scrolls to Translator Aun Laokhe. He will translate them for you and add them directly to your spellbook. The Untranslated versions are giveable if you want to give them to an alternate character. The Carved Mosswart Statue is a magical device for use in mansions only. Bleeargh the Swamp King can teach you how to use it, but he will only do that if you return stolen Mosswart relics to him.
