Collegium Occultus

The Viamontians have broken the seal on one of the wings of Asheron's Knorr Lyceum.  What are they looking for in there?

Step 1:  Preparation.  To do this quest, you will need 2 M Notes and 2 MMD Notes.  You will also need a lock picker and a couple portal ties - Subway and Umbral Halls.  Begin your quest by heading to Stonehold.

Step 2:  Bailor.  In Stonehold, find the Lugian named Olcris in the barn.  He will give you a portal gem to Knorr for cash.  What particular amount of cash he will ask for depends on whether or not you've been to Knorr before.  Talk to him and read what he days, then give him the appropriate note he wants.  In fact, give him two - you will want two portal gems for this.  If you paid MMDs, you will go straight to the Seat of Knorr, so you can ignore the next step.  If you paid M notes, then you will need to go through the riddle challenges.  You will arrive in a large room with a golem and a pile of junk in one corner.  Give the correct item to the golem to advance to two more similar rooms.  The correct answers are....  book, mead, shield.  Highlight, copy and paste if you really want to cheat!  Once you are at the Seat, head down the southern wing and look for the Collegium Occultus Anteroom portal.  Go in and you will find another golem named Bailor standing near a portal at the far side of the room.  Talk to him - if he says you may pass, you have apparently done this before and can skip the next steps.  If he gives you a broken seal, you will need to flag yourself for entry (which is why you bought two gems).  You will need to take this seal to Harlune's friend Roderick in Mite Maze, which is always a delightful place to visit.  This dungeon, incidentally, is why you need lockpick - the door just before Roderick's rooms is locked.  Follow the map and give Roderick the broken seal.  Roderick will keep it and you will be flagged to go back to the Collegium any time you want... like now.  Pop that second gem, go through the trials if you need to, and go back into the Collegium Occultus Anteroom.  Talk to Bailor to confirm your flag, then go into the dungeon portal behind you.

Step 3:  Collegium Occultus.  Time to buff up - you will be fighting Viamontians and Eaters, so physical and acid banes plus slash and fire weapons.  When you are ready, head into the dungeon.  Your basic goal in this dungeon is to go south and east whenever given the opportunity.  The dungeon is not mazey and if you went south instead of east (or vice versa), you will realize it quickly.  At the end, you will find a small room inside of a larger room, defended by some Viamontians, some Eaters, and Master Malsivir.  Malsivir's your man - kill him and loot his corpse.  On it, you will find a Void Crystal and a book.  Grab that crystal.  *NOTE* - if you are looking for Nurino's book about Gear Knights, you will find it in this room too.  DO NOT recall!  Run to the west and hit the exit portal, which goes back to the Seat of Knorr.

Step 4:  Rewards.  Give the crystal to Bailor in the Anteroom for your XP reward (all 9M of it) and then take it to Roderick in Mite Maze for your final reward, the Collegium Occultus Ring.  I suppose it isn't too terrible, casting Major Storm Ward.
