Rytheran is one of the progenitor Dericost undead.  Lately he's been hiding out in his sanctum, studying the Book of Ebihil, an ancient text with the power to destroy the world.  Rytheran used a tiny portion of its power to turn the House Mhoire into undead.  A scholar in Zaikhal believes you can steal the tome if you are quick!

Step 1:  Preparation.  There really isn't much preparation work necessary to do this quest.  You do need to be able to go to the Graveyard and to Neydisa Castle, but neither of those will pose a serious challenge to you if you are a high enough level to do the quest.

Step 2:  Seal.  Your first job is to find Rytheran's Master Seal, which is located in a chest in the Graveyard.  Regardless of your level, I would wait until daytime to get the seal.  It doesn't take very long, but it's best to avoid any unnecessary entanglements with the inhabitants of the Graveyard.  If you need to run to the Graveyard, make your way to the southwestern entrance.  If you are recalling, you will be very close to the bunker that contains the chest.  Buff before you head in!  Either way, head to 65.6S 43.9W.  The entrance to the bunker is on the south face.  Once inside, find the chest at the far end of the bunker, grab the seal, and get out.  Whatever you do, DO NOT attack any monsters in the bunker!  Fighting monsters inside a structure will dramatically increase the awareness range of the surface monsters, and the whole world will come crashing down around your ears.

Step 3:  Rytheran's Private Sanctum.  Once you have your seal, it's time to go to Mage Academy.  This dungeon is on top of a mountain near Neydisa Castle, at 74.7N 18.5E.  Don't go into the dungeon - look for a targetable statue next to the portal and give it your seal.  Doing so will flag you to enter the dungeon in the event that you die or have to recall.  You will be fighting undead and humans.  Fire weapons, especially with an undead slayer attachment, will work very nicely.  If you are a mage, you will have a very hard time landing on the melee monsters (Imperial Guards), but they shouldn't be able to hurt you much, so be patient.  From the drop, follow the dungeon to a large room with four exits.  You will need to take both the north and south exits eventually.  Pick one and follow it until you find the Majordomo of the Northern or Southern Cloister.  Kill him and loot a key.  That key will unlock the nearby cloister door.  Inside the cloister are human mages.  These guys only cast - no melee.  If you like, you can run past them, but do your best to strafe to avoid their war spells.  At the end of each cloister is a large room with a few humans and a key fragment on the ground.  Grab it and head back to the central room with the four exits.  Now do the other wing.  Combine the two key fragments once you have them and then make your way back to the central room once again.  Use your key to unlock the eastern exit.  Jump across the acid pit and you will have a pretty much straight shot to the end.  The final room has a few undead guardians, as well as an altar and Rytheran's Journal.  Grab the journal and use the altar if you like.  It casts a debuff on you for trying to trick it.  Unfortunately, the Book of Ebihil and Rytheran himself are gone.

Step 4:  Rewards.  Head to Zaikhal with your book.  Head to the mage shop on the hill and look for Danira the Dusty.  Give her your book and she will reward you with XP, capping at roughly 250M XP.  You will also get a translated copy of Rytheran's Journal if you like to collect lore.
