The first story arc in Asheron's Call pitted Isparians against Bael'Zharon, the dreaded Hopeslayer.  Foolish adventurers released him from his crystal prison and he quickly set about destroying the world.  Fortunately, Asheron, the Undead, Isin Dule's renegade Shadows, and the Virindi Directive discovered a weakness that could be exploited.  It was up to us to recover three magical relics from heavily guarded dungeons, fuse them together into a powerful magic totem, and deliver it to Asheron.  Only then could we invade the Hopeslayer's secret lair and destroy his form.

Although the Hopeslayer is gone, the three dungeons remain, as does his lair.  There are powerful items in each dungeon still.

Empyrean Cloister - Barbed Fletching Tool, Emyprean Scalemail Shirt, Obsidian Dagger, Avoren Palacost's Skull

Heart of Darkness - Shadow Captain's Heaume, Heart of Shadow

Chakron Flux - Virindi Servant's Amulet, Fragment of the Singularity

Combine the three reagents to form the Dark Crucible and then give it to the Chosen of Asheron in Cragstone at 23.6N, 49.1E.  It will give you a portal gem to:

Sepulcher of the Hopeslayer - Blood of the Hopeslayer

You can use the Blood on the Sword of Lost Light if you are a swordsman to make a very potent Acid sword (make sure you use the three Fire infusions first!) or you can head to Glendon Wood and give it to Lilly (at 32.0N, 27.2E) for 10M XP.

(The Barbed Fletching Tool is used to make Barbed Arrowheads, which have slightly higher max damage than regular AP heads, but higher variance.  It's a nice tool to have, but you will rarely use it!)
