The Renegade Virindi Directors made their move to permanently separate themselves from the Singularity by building a New Singularity here in Dereth. Sadly for us, the loyalist Virindi are less of a threat to us than the Renegade Directors, so several years ago a band of powerful adventurers destroyed Levistras, the leader of the Directors. You can relive the struggle by attacking the Singular Repositories and then storming Levistras's old compound.
Step 1: Preparation. Before you begin your quest, you will need to visit Ecorto the Lost Director, a Virindi NPC in Zaikhal. He will give you a Chisel for use later on. The Chisel has a habit of breaking and is on a 24 hour timer, so you might not be able to do the entire quest in a day.
Step 2: Singular Pyreal Repository. The first dungeon is located in the desert at 4.2S 8.9E. Your best bet is to run from the Jackcat Canyon settlement out of Al Jalima. The dungeon is populated with Drudge Raveners and Dolls, so you won't have trouble unless you are a lower level. Fire is the best weapon choice. If you are below level 60 or so, you might want to buff, but anyone above 60 should have the magic defense and health to survive without buffing. You can make your way through practically the entire dungeon by going north whenever you have a chance. The only time you won't be able to go north is at a four-way intersection where the north passage leads to a dead end within sight of the intersection. Turn right there and you will be well on your way to the final room. After passing through several larger rooms, you will reach the final room. Inside are a pair of big Singular Pyreal Pillars, several Dolls and Raveners, and the Singular Doll. Kill everything and loot the Doll Leader's Charm from the Singular Doll's corpse. Then use your chisel on the Pyreal Pillar for a sliver of pyreal. Your chisel may break in the process - if it does, your quest is over for today. If your chisel survived, continue on to the next dungeon.
Step 3: Singular Chorizite Repository. The second dungeon you will need to visit is located in the Linvak Mountains NE of Kara (at 77.3S 51.6E). You will be fighting Hollow Lugians and some Virindi, so you may want to buff lightning and slashing weapons. If your fire weapon is still buffed, forget about the slasher. Put your protects up, but don't bother with banes as they won't help against the Lugians and Virindi don't hit too hard in melee combat. Like the Pyreal Repository, all you need to do in this dungeon is keep going north. The final room is protected by the Singular Lugian Warlord (who drops the Scepter) and several other Lugians and Virindi. Once everything is dead, use your chisel on a Chorizite Pillar to get a sliver. Combine the two slivers to form Singularity Calyx.
Step 4: Singular Obsidian Repository. The final Repository is located in the Obsidian Plains, so you will have a dangerous run, especially if you are close to the minimum level. Buff before you go - you will want to bane and protect against everything for the run, but you will only need bludge banes and a fire weapon inside. There are a few Tumideon Hollows, but not enough to justify buffing a frost weapon. The dungeon is located at 55.9S 64.8W, so your fastest and safest route is to run from the Obsidian Rim portal (Aerlinthe sequence). The dungeon is quite linear and you will have no trouble navigating if you ignore all the turns. The only point where the path deviates is at a four-way intersection at the bottom of a ramp. The passage straight ahead leads to a dead end fairly quickly - you will want to turn left instead. There are two flood rooms where you can get bogged down in the hordes of monsters. The first is just after the above mentioned four-way intersection and the second is just prior to the Obsidian pillars. With a rending weapon, you should be able to punch through all the flood rooms without any trouble - just don't stay too long looting. You will find the Singular Director in the room prior to the Obsidian Pillars typically, although your presence might drag him out earlier. Loot him for the Obsidian Director's Mask. Press on and you will come to a room with four obsidian pillars above you. Keep going - you can't get to them from that room. Just past the room is a four-way intersection. Turn right or left and go up a ramp. You will find yourself up top in the Pillar room. Use your chisel and get a sliver then recall out. Combine the Obsidian with the Singularity Calyx and you will have your Fragment of the New Singularity.
Step 5: Seat of the New Singularity. Return to Ecorto in Zaikhal. When you and your group are ready, give Ecorto the Fragment of the New Singularity and he will summon a portal - note that you only need one per group, but it would be nice to have a spare in case anyone dies. This dungeon isn't particularly difficult anymore - inside are Tuskers up to Rampagers, Virindi up to Executors, and some Tumideon and Tenebrous Hollows. Nothing to be afraid of. The drop is safe, so buff up after everyone has hit the portal. This dungeon is painfully easy to navigate - just keep going north! There is one jump to make, but it is a simple one off a ledge. In the last room is the New Singularity Director. Kill him and loot a Shroud from his corpse. You will need to kill him once for each person in your group, so you may be at it for some time.
Step 6: Rewards. The Repositories offer one reward each: the Doll Leader's Charm, the Lugian Warlord's Scepter (a mace), and the Obsidian Director's Mask (which cannot be made into a racial mask, incidentally). Those three and the Virindi Shroud (a robe) are all pretty much obsolete and weren't particularly useful even when they came out. Still, quests don't have to have useful to be worth doing!
