The Tumeroks of Dereth have been carting around odd crates, each of which holds a piece of a weapon.  Why?  No one knows...

This 'quest' (if you can call it one) requires a lot of luck and running.  There are two types of weapons you might find - Battered Old weapons and Worn Old weapons.  Battered Old weapons have lower damage and wield reqs than Worn Old weapons.  Crates for Eventually, you will come across a spawn of 5-6 Tumeroks guarding a crate.  Battered weapons spawn in the mid-level regions of Osteth and Worn weapons spawn in the Direlands and northwestern Osteth.  The exact group of Tumeroks depends on the region you are exploring, up to 6 Tumerok Troopers in the Direlands.  Kill them or just run in and open the crate.  Pick up the weapon piece inside and keep on going.  Once you find the first and second parts of a weapon, combine them!  There's no skill check, so you can make any weapon regardless of what type of character you are.  The pieces are also giveable, so you can trade them.

Worn weapons are 350 wield weapons and have better than average damage with good bonuses.  Melee weapons cast BD VII and HS VII while missile weapons cast Defender VII instead of HS.  Battered weapons have lower damage and are only 250 wield.  They cast BD and HS V.  Additionally, both types of weapons have a property called 'Armor Cleaving'.  I haven't field tested the property, but it is similar to Armor Rending, although not as strong.

Here's the worn mace, staff, and dagger and the battered axe, atlatl, mace, sword, and spear.
