Who Are We?

The simplest answer is that we are a group of Horizons players on the Dawn server who enjoy each others' company.  That's not a terribly good answer though.  The Paladins of Asheron span 4 years and 4 games and have spawned several offshoots who still hold the core beliefs that the original group did. 

Our name here in Horizons does seem doubly misleading.  We are not all members of the Paladin class and Asheron does not exist in this world.  We do, however, all subscribe to the same story, one passed down by word of mouth through the ages.  The story tells of a group of mighty warriors, wise mages, and nimble archers who banded together in a land plagued by monsters and shrouded in darkness.  This group stood against the evil to help the people who would not help themselves and to help see that good triumphed.  Although this group had many leaders, the group always rallied to the side of Asheron the Lightbringer.  He was a being of unrivaled power, but also of unmatched conscience.  His life was said to be filled with nothing but loss, and yet he selflessly gave everything he had to help those who needed it the most - even those who despised him openly.

Just as our predecessors did, we Paladins of Asheron swear an oath to uphold a creed written long ago.  This creed tells us how we ought to act and is the most unbreakable law we have.  The creed reads:

A Knight is sworn to valor

His heart knows only virtue

His blade defends the helpless

His might upholds the weak

His words speak only truth

His wrath undoes the wicked

His word is his bond
