In the early days of the Isparian/Lugian conflict, Isparians had a substantial advantage - magic. After years of quarrying, Lugian Raiders discovered veins of a unique material we call Chorizite. Depending on the purity of the mineral, Chorizite can ignore various levels of magic. Armed with Chorizite (AKA Hollow) weapons, the Lugian Raiders could now hold their own against Isparian Mages. The Renegades even traded Chorizite ore to the Virindi, who constructed Hollow Minions - scarecrows who strike terror in the heart of anyone who relies on magic to protect themselves.
Isparians have been raiding the Lugians' Mines for some time now and have learned to make several different items from the ore. Low-grade Ore is used to make Hollow Weapons, which ignore life and item magic. By adding Bloodhunter Oil to a Hollow Weapon, you can make it into a Deadly Hollow weapon, which has a higher damage but adds a wield requirement. Medium Grade Chorizite is primarily used to make Chorizite spell components, which is used in casting dispels. Additionally, skilled alchemists can make drinkable potions that remove negative effects. Fletchers can use medium-grade ore to make a Fletching tool. The hollow arrowheads the tool makes are only useable in Hollow and Phantom missile weapons. The highest grade of Chorizite ore is used to make Ravenous Weapons, which have potent magical spells but are subject to life and item magic's effects. Adding Bloodhunter Oil to a Ravenous Weapon changes it into a Phantom weapon, a unique weapon with a very low base damage that ignores ALL armor. Phantom weapons are affected by Life Protects and Vulns, however.
Step 1: The Quarries. There are three Chorizite Quarries in Dereth - Lugian Mines, Lugian Quarry, and Lugian Excavations. All the dungeons are similar (although not identical) in layout. You will have two goals in each dungeon - kill Lugians until you find one of their massive pickaxes on a corpse and then find a vein. All the dungeons are riddled with dispel and mana blight traps. The Lugians inside all carry Hollow weapons too, so there is no point to casting protects or banes and little point in casting creature spells, as you will likely dispel them. The only spells worth casting at all are Blood Drinker, Swift Killer, Heart Seeker, Defender, and Hermetic Link. If you don't have melee defense, be very careful! If you don't have missile defense, run around any Lugian throwing rocks to force him into melee mode. Once you find a vein, use your pickaxe on it. You can get more than one chunk of ore at this point, but there is a 16 hour timer on refining the ore.
Step 2: Refining your Ore. Once you have your ore, it's time to head to the Beach Fort, where Feruza ibn Salaq lives. The run to Beach Fort used to be the most difficult part of the quest, but now you can use the Lady Maila Estates settlement portal out of Mayoi. From the settlement, run to 76.0N, 49.1W. Give Feruza your ore and he will refine it into a useable form. If you are making Medium-grade Ore for dispel potions or spell components, you are all but done. Buy a mortar and pestle and use it on your refined ore. Now give the powdered Chorizite to an alchemist. Have your alchemist use the powdered Chorizite on a vial of Vitriol to make the spell component. If you want dispel potions, use an Alembic on the Chorizite Potions and you will make Chorizite Oil. Depending on the potency of the dispel you want to make, you will have to combine multiple Chorizite Oils to make a more potent oil. 2 Oils make a Strong Dispel Potion (level XXX), 3 oils make a Concentrated Dispel Potion (level XXX), and 4 oils make a Condensed Dispel Potion (level XXX). Finally, use a neutral balm on the oil to create the drinkable potion.
Step 3: Crater. If you aren't making potions, you will need to forge your weapon or fletching tool. Catch a ride to Crater Village and head to Silencia's Tower. You'll now need to buy a glyph from Silencia. Make sure you buy the grey glyph, not the blueish New glyphs. Use the glyph on your ore and then give the imbued ore to Silencia's Magma Golem. It will return your newly forged weapon or tool to you. If you want to make a Deadly Hollow or Phantom weapon, you need to get a vial of Bloodhunter Oil, also from an alchemist. Use the oil on your weapon and you will alter it into your desired new weapon.
