The Hea and the Aun have been fighting for control over the Marescent Plateau for some time now. The Aun are in a somewhat precarious position, as they need to fend off the Hea's attacks as well as keep the Olthoi Queen at bay by drumming at the Menhir Rings. You can strike a blow against both of the Aun's enemies by seeking out Hea Temenua's war party.
Step 1: Hea Temenua. Hea Temenua is a powerful Hea hunter who patrols the Marescent Plateau on a regular basis. He is always accompanied by his friends, Hea Kanokeh and Hea Karenua, as well as a couple other Hea. They seem to spawn more often on the west side of the Plateau, so you will likely have to run around quite a bit until you find these guys. Kill them all and check their corpses. Hea Karenua drops an Awakener as well as several keys to his Hea Raider's Cache. Temenua drops 3 trophies - two pieces of the Elariwood Bow and a golden Hea Totem. If you aren't a bowman, don't bother picking up the bow pieces. If you are a skilled bowman, try to string the bow! It's quite difficult and if you fail, your pieces will be destroyed. You'll have to wait to try again. While you are out on the plateau, take the Raider key to the Cache at 43.4N,82.5W. It is well protected and if you attack any of the Hea inside the bunker, you will bring every Hea within a large radius toward you. The cache contains decent loot, as well as Cold Protect VI cheese and some portal gems to the Hea hometown, Ahurenga.
Step 2: Rubble. Now that you have your totem, go to Timaru. Inside the Tah's tent are 4 other Auns against the far wall. Greet each one and listen to what each says - you'll have to decide whether you want the Kalindan Crossbow, the magical Stave, or the staff weapon Hoeroa. The fourth Aun will be important later, but you can ignore him for now. When you turn in your totem, you will receive a text telling you how you can customize your weapon. There are 5 totems you can add to the weapon, but your weapon only has 3 available slots. To get each totem, you will need to find a piece of Rubble from deep within one of the 5 randomly spawning Hive portals. Inside each is a room that has a chance of spawning a blue Olthoi Noble. That blue Noble will always drop the rubble piece. Previously you needed to return the rubble piece to the appropriate Menhir Ring, but now you can instead return it to the fourth Aun in the Tah's tent instead. He will exchange your rubble for a totem. Note that the rubble is giveable but the totems are not.
| Totem Name | Hoeroa | Crossbow | Stave | Hive Name | Level |
| Tonk | Staff VI | Xbow VI | War VI | Tiny Hive | 30+ |
| Storm | x4 Criticals | +25% modifier | Avalanche War Spell | Small Hive | 40+ |
| Siraluun | Rejuv VI | Regen VI | Mana Renewal VI | Simple Hive | 50+ |
| Carenzi | Strength VI | Coordination VI | Focus VI | Shallow Hive | 60+ |
| Timaru | Moderate Armor | Moderate Quick | Moderate Magic D | New Hive | 70+ |
Step 3: Rewards. Add your three totems and the weapon becomes useable! Sadly, these three very unique-looking weapons aren't terribly useful anymore.
