Queen Elysa has authorized bounties on the Virindi that live in the Valley of Death.  If you do your part to help reduce their numbers, you will be rewarded handsomely!

Step 1:  Preparation.  Your first job is to track down all four quest NPCs.  They are each dressed in yellow and red Covenant Armor (like the rest of Queen Elysa's army) and they live in Qalabar, Wei Jhou, Candeth Keep, and Ayan.  Qalabar's NPC is in a building at the northeast end of town.  Wei Jhou's is standing on a ledge outside the smaller building.  Candeth's is in the south watch tower.  Ayan's is right by the statue in the middle of town.  Once you have your quests, you can start hunting the Virindi, but be prepared!  Mages should use Singularity Wands while everyone else should use an Armor Rending weapon of some sort.  Archers will do well with an upgraded Composite Bow, but Melees will need to build their own armor renders.  Slashing works best.  Melees would do well to bring along an Aegis, preferably one of the Aegises with shield level.  You will need to kill 75 of each of the four Virindi types.  This is a long quest - expect to take anywhere from 8-12 hours, possibly more.

Step 2:  Hunting.  The four types of Virindi you will be fighting, Paradoxes, Quidioxes, Shadow-touched Paradoxes, and Shadow-touched Quidioxes, live in the Valley of Death.  Paras and Quids live a couple other places as well, but the Shadow-touched varieties are native only to the VoD, so you really have little choice about where to hunt.  Have a look at THIS MAP before you get started, especially if you aren't familiar with the VoD.  There are three main regions you can hunt, labeled V1, V2, and the central region around the "Jay" signature.  If you can get a portal to the "VoD Hotdrop" (which takes you just to the right of the "a", that will take you to the most productive hunting grounds.  Failing that, Valleys 1 and 2 can get you into the VoD too.  For more specifics about the VoD, check out the VoD hunting guide.  Once you are in, start scanning for the Virindi.  Every Virindi you see in the VoD will be worth killing and each type spawns in a group of 3 initially.  Frequently reinforcements will spawn if you wait around the spawn point long enough.  If you want to minimize the time the quest takes, don't bother with anything but the Virindi.  There are some tempting targets in the Valley, such as Fallen monsters, Swarthy Mattekars, and the elusive Platinum Golem Mountain King, but whether or not you kill those is completely up to you.  I strongly suggest that you take out the Quidiox-types first, because they are the only ones who can cast VII bolts, the most likely means of your death.  When you've managed to kill all 300 Virindi, head back to the NPCs.

Step 3:  Rewards.  Each NPC will reward you with 32M XP (128M plus the roughly 300M from killing all those Virindi) and a piece of the Scepter.  Combine the pieces in the order indicated on the pieces and you will end up with a complete Scepter of the Portal Currents.  This is a serious reward - when you use its spell, it will teleport you right next to the Treetop Shop in Candeth Keep.  That will allow you to free up one of your lifestone ties!
